<p><em>Join In</em>, an initiative by Leadership Ohio, begs the question: What can we do to unite our communities? <em>Join or Die</em> by Delevan Street Films, is a documentary based on research that Ohioan Robert Putnam that relates to the U.S. Surgeon General’s declared ‘epidemic of loneliness and isolation.’ <br><br>Adult patrons are invited to this free event to watch the film; hear from guest speakers; discuss film themes; and learn about the loneliness and isolation crisis, the relationship between community life and the fate of our democracy, and the importance of joining local clubs. <br><br><em>Join In: Uniting Communities in Ohio</em> is funded in part by the America 250-Ohio Commission. </p><p>To participate in this event, register at: <a href="https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/vkdczzp">https://lp.constant… Schedule: </strong></em></p><ul><li>1:00 pm - Welcome / Introductory Remarks</li><li>1:20 pm - Screening of Join or Die</li><li>2:55 pm - Panel Discussion</li><li>3:30 pm - Adjourn</li></ul><p> </p><p><em><strong>Panelists: </strong></em></p><p><strong>Toby Butt </strong>"Join In" panelist Toby Butt is representing the Medina Sunrise Rotary Club. Toby has 50 years of service and perfect attendance as a Rotarian. He was previously a member of the Rotary Club of Wadsworth. After retiring as the president of Allen & Hartzell, Inc., in Wadsworth, he joined the Medina Sunrise Rotary Club, where he served as membership chair the past two years.</p><p><strong>Brian Feron </strong>"Join In" panelist Brian Feron is representing the Medina County Historical Society, which has worked to preserve Medina County's rich history for over 100 years. After retiring as the Director of Business Support for TCP Inc. in January 2020, Brian has volunteered as the board president for the Historical Society. Brian was recently inducted into the Medina City Schools Hall of Fame, recognized for his contributions to cultural and performing arts. Brian also held Manager/Director roles at Little Tikes, Moen and Oatey prior to TCP. He was active in the Medina Jaycees and the Medina evening Rotary club for many years. A lifelong resident of Medina, he has a passion for helping people and improving the community in any way he can.</p><p><strong>Ellen Nolan </strong>"Join In" panelist Ellen Nolan is representing SPARK Medina, a nonprofit organization that emphasizes service-learning projects for kids. Ellen has served as one of SPARK Medina's three co-directors since its inception in May 2022. Ellen also works as a social media consultant.</p><p><strong>Karen Thorn </strong>"Join In" panelist Karen Thorn is a founding member of the Medina Mavens, a non-partisan organization committed to educating and empowering voters to champion important issues. Retired from a successful career in pharmaceuticals with GSK, Karen has devoted her time and energy to volunteering with various organizations, including the Medina City Schools Foundation, the Medina County Arts Foundation, Empowering Epilepsy, and Friends of the Cemetery.
